Mami Kato

Detroit, Michigan

Mami Kato focuses her practice on the representation of labor organizations and campaign finance law. Previously she was an associate at Legghio & Israel, PC, and specialized in employee benefits and representation of multiemployer plans and litigation. Ms. Kato is admitted to practice in the state of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. At Wayne State University Law School, she was awarded the Bernard Gottfried Memorial Scholarship in Labor Law, competed in the Wagner Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition (NYC) and the American Association for Justice National Student Trial Advocacy Competition, and served as the article editor for the "Journal of Law in Society." She also interned with the National Labor Relations Board's Region 7 office in Detroit and clerked for the UAW Legal Department. Before becoming a lawyer, she served as the orchestra operations manager for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and was responsible for ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
