Vanessa Peterson Williams focuses her practice on corporate law matters including litigation management, software and data product licensing to automotive related entities (including insurers), data privacy, and international law. She started her career at Plunkett & Cooney, PC, in Detroit, where she litigated employment law, insurance contract, and other general liability actions. In 2001 Ms. Williams began serving as staff counsel to the Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association, where she practiced until 2006. She is the editor-in-chief of "The Brief," journal of the Tort Insurance and Trial Practice Section of the American Bar Association (ABA); a past president of the Association of Defense Trial Counsel; and a member of the board of directors of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA). Ms. Williams also serves in the ABA's House of Delegates and the State Bar of Michigan's Representative Assembly. She was the recipient of the Wolverine Bar Association's 2001 Margrette A. Taylor Distinguished Young Lawyer Award and the DMBA Barristers Section's 2001 Barrister of the Year Award. A fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Ms. Williams has authored articles for the "Michigan Bar Journal."
