Amy A. Yu has been a family law attorney since 1997 and is in solo practice. She was a partner with Abrams Yu and Associates, PC, from 1999 to 2007, focusing her practice primarily on divorce, paternity, child custody, and child support. Ms. Yu worked as a critical care nurse for 10 years before going to law school. Her nursing background has provided her with specialized knowledge and a unique outlook that she applies to her family law cases. Ms. Yu began her career working on immigration cases, with experience working at the U.S. Attorney's Office. She is an experienced litigator as well as part of the collaborative law community. Active in the State Bar of Michigan's Family Law Section, Ms. Yu has been a council member since 2003, an executive committee member since 2006, section chairperson for 2010-2011, and a frequent speaker and author for the section. Ms. Yu is also a member of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan, the Michigan Inter-Professional Association on Marriage, Divorce, and the Family, and the Oakland County Bar Association, where she is a member and past chair of the Family Court Committee. She has served on the Friend of the Court Bureau Advisory Committee since 2009. She is a member of the Domestic Relations Workgroup of the Michigan Court Forms Committee and the Michigan Child Support Formula quadrennial review committee. Ms. Yu has been selected as a Michigan Super Lawyer for her achievements.
