Amy J. Barkholz is general counsel for the MHA, a trade association that represents Michigan’s 132 community hospitals and the patients they serve. She serves as chief legal officer for the association and its related entities, including the MHA Keystone Center, Health Foundation, and Service Corporation. Ms. Barkholz is part of the executive team and has been with the organization since 1994. Prior to serving as general counsel, Ms. Barkholz was the MHA’s senior director of regulatory issues, where she focused on the state’s Certificate of Need program, state administrative rules, health facility and professional licensing issues, emergency medical services, trauma care, and other regulatory and legal issues. She also served as the principal association staff liaison on rural health issues. Ms. Barkholz has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1994 and has served on the Health Care Law Section board. She is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and Michigan Society of Association Executives.
