Susan Hartmus Hiser

Bingham Farms, Michigan

Susan Hartmus Hiser has more than 25 years of experience practicing on behalf of private, public sector, and nonprofit employers in the areas of labor and employment litigation, arbitration, and counseling. She represents employers in state and federal courts as well as in proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and other administrative agencies. She frequently counsels employers on matters relating to the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, force reduction planning and implementation, alternative dispute resolution, and general human resources issues and conducts workplace training on a number of employment issues. Ms. Hiser has been listed in "Michigan Super Lawyers," "The Best Lawyers in America" (labor and employment litigation), and "Chambers USA" (labor and employment). She is a frequent lecturer; a coeditor of the "Michigan Employment Law Letter"; and the author of "Asked & Answered," a monthly column that appears in the same publication. Ms. Hiser is the immediate past chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the Michigan State Bar Foundation, and a member of the American Employment Law Council. She is also a member of the Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Labor and Employment Law, where she has cochaired its Workplace Investigations and ERR Gives Back subcommittees.
