Jay D. Kaplan has been the staff attorney for the ACLU of Michigan’s LGBTQ+ Project since it began operations in 2001. Before that, he worked for Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service, a disability rights agency, where he developed an HIV/AIDS legal services program. He is the recipient of the State Bar of Michigan’s Unsung Hero Award and the Virginia Uribe Civil Rights Award from the National Education Association.
