Nancy H. Welber PC
Farmington Hills, Michigan

An attorney in private practice since 1982 and a certified public accountant, Nancy H. Welber concentrates her practice in the areas of estate and retirement planning and probate and trust administration. In the retirement realm, she assists clients and other attorneys with difficult planning issues for families with significant retirement benefits, including families with special needs or younger beneficiaries and charitably inclined clients with large retirement accounts; in drafting trusts and custom beneficiary designations for complex retirement planning situations; and with rectifying insufficient required minimum distributions by the account owner or beneficiary. Ms. Welber works with families and consults with other attorneys on postmortem issues, including disclaimers of retirement benefits, administering trusts with problematic beneficiaries for retirement benefits such as charities, and distributing retirement accounts from trusts to the beneficiaries without triggering income tax. Ms. Welber is of counsel to Mall, Malisow & Cooney, PC, in Farmington Hills, and Ferguson Widmayer & Clark, PC, in Ann Arbor. She is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC), a member of the ACTEC employee benefits and elder law committees, and a former member of the State Bar of Michigan's Probate and Estate Planning Council. Ms. Welber frequently lectures on estate planning with retirement benefits and other estate planning topics.
