As chairperson of the firm's business section, Mary P. Nelson currently specializes in real estate and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financing, supply chain documentation and transactions, and general corporate representation. She has extensive experience advising closely held businesses in commercial transactions, real estate development, leasing, financing arrangements, and succession planning. Ms. Nelson has represented developers of chain stores in their acquisition, construction, and leasing of sites; the due diligence, negotiation, documentation, financing, and closing of complex business acquisitions; the sale of businesses to publicly held companies; and numerous real estate and business transactions, including stock reorganizations, mergers, and asset-based acquisitions. She is a member of the Business Law and Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Sections of the American Bar Association and the Business Law, Real Property Law, and Master Lawyers Sections of the State Bar of Michigan. Ms. Nelson was a contributor to a previous edition of "Michigan Basic Practice Handbook" (ICLE). She was a member of the "Wayne State University Law Review."
