John R. Marquis

John R. Marquis practices in the areas of business, taxation, and health law. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Marquis spent 16 years as an adjunct professor at one of his alma maters, Grand Valley State University. After he completed Grand Valley's master of science in taxation program in 1984, he began teaching in the program and continued teaching until 2001, when he became an adjunct professor of business law at Hope College, where he taught from 2002 to 2004. He is a member of the Business Law and Taxation Sections of both the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association and is a member and former president of the Ottawa County Bar Association. Mr. Marquis is a recognized national authority on "concierge medicine" and has spoken before numerous groups around the country on the subject. Listed in "The Best Lawyers in America," Mr. Marquis has been a frequent speaker for ICLE since 1995, where he has taught a number of business and tax courses. Active in civic affairs, he currently serves as the president of the Community Foundation of the Holland Zeeland Area.
