J. David Kerr

Mount Pleasant, Michigan


J. David Kerr has over 50 years of experience practicing in the areas of estate, business, and Medicaid planning; trust and estate settlement; asset protection; and trustee and estate litigation. He is a member of the Member Input Board for the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys (NNEPA) and a past president of the Michigan Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, Mr. Kerr serves on the councils of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section, the Master Lawyers Section, and the Probate and Estate Planning Section, where he served on the committee that drafted the Michigan Trust Code. A graduate of several prestigious advanced wealth planning programs, he is often asked to collaborate with financial professionals and other attorneys on estate planning designs. While he was general counsel for Central Michigan University, Mr. Kerr wrote and taught the estate planning course. A published author, he wrote the chapter on handling legal aspects of disability and death in "Optimal Aging" and "Complete Guide to Estate and Financial Planning in Turbulent Times." Mr. Kerr teaches many seminars and workshops for NNEPA, ICLE, clients, and professionals on a wide variety of topics.
