Jarod Koopman

Jarod Koopman became acting special agent in charge (ASAC) of the IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) office in Detroit on June 30, 2014. He began his IRS-CI career in the Buffalo Field Office in 2002, and became ASAC at the Chicago Field Office in June, 2013, where he oversaw the Public Corruption Task Force, the ID Theft Task Force, and several internal investigations. As a special agent Koopman received the New York Investigator of the Year Award from the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation in 2008 and the OCDETF and Asset Forfeiture Award in 2009 for his work on the Kodak Investigation. In April 2010, he took over as the supervisory special agent in the Rochester, NY post-of-duty office. In the following year, he was selected as a participant in the Accelerated Senior Leadership Program and in August 2012, he was assigned as a senior analyst in the Refund Crimes division. During this time, his primary focus was identity theft and he helped develop guidance to assist in field operations, namely Stolen Identity Refund Fraud Directive 144 and the Law Enforcement Assistance Program.
