Hon. Gerald E. Rosen

Detroit, Michigan

Prior to taking the bench in 1990, Hon. Gerald E. Rosen was a senior partner at Miller Canfield where, as a trial lawyer, he specialized in commercial, labor, and constitutional litigation. For 16 years, he has also served as an adjunct professor of law, teaching evidence at both Wayne State University Law School and Cooley Law School. Judge Rosen has authored numerous articles for professional journals and the popular press, coauthored "Federal Civil Trials and Evidence" and "Michigan Civil Trials and Evidence," and is the senior editor of the West Group Michigan Practice Guide series. A frequent presenter at continuing legal education seminars for both lawyers and state and federal judges, he has also lectured at several international conferences. As part of the U.S. State Department's Rule of Law program, Judge Rosen represented the U.S. government in Russia and Georgia, consulting with legal scholars and judges from those nations on the draft of their constitutions and the organization of their legal system. Most recently, he lectured to high-ranking Chinese judges in Beijing and Egyptian judges in Cairo.
