Dr. Roman A. Barraza is the medical director of both Munson Palliative Medicine and Munson Home Healthcare Hospice. Dr. Barraza’s clinical interests lie in palliative care and include education in effective communication with patients and families, managing complex pain symptoms in patients with serious illnesses, and leading efforts to promote palliative care in community-based hospitals and rural communities. He serves as chair of the Bioethics Resource Committee at Munson Medical Center and as a member of both the Munson Healthcare Opioid Stewardship Committee and Cancer Committee at the Cowell Family Cancer Center. Dr. Barraza is involved in the clinical education of medical students and physician residents in hospice and palliative medicine and medical ethics. He has served as an invited lecturer at the University of Michigan, Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology, Northern Physicians Organization, and Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, among others.
