Prohibition on AI and Machine Learning Use

For decades, ICLE content has been developed by volunteer lawyers to benefit the legal profession in Michigan. To preserve this legacy and to prevent public dissemination, ICLE prohibits use of any copyrighted content it publishes or hosts to train AI models or systems. This prohibition is detailed in the User Agreement for ICLE's online products:

Subscribers under this Agreement are prohibited from copying, scraping, extracting, downloading, uploading or otherwise using any content, data, or information from the Online Resources for the purpose of training or inputting into any machine learning system, artificial intelligence (AI) tool, large language model (LLM), or other algorithmic system or technology that uses such content to develop or improve automated or generative capabilities. This prohibition applies regardless of whether such use is for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

ICLE may revoke your license to ICLE content if you do not abide by this provision. If you have questions about this provision, please reach out to icle@umich.edu. Please help us safe-guard the collective knowledge of our experts, who create resources specifically for Michigan lawyers, by keeping it out of AI systems and models.
