Kaitlin (Katie) A. Brown is a partner at the firm as well as its Chair of Employment. Ms. Brown's expertise is in advising businesses to create legally compliant and protective contracts, policies, and processes. She also works with executive leaders to negotiate agreements related to compensation, stock, transition, and severance. Ms. Brown has worked with clients in myriad industries, including automotive, corporate, medical, educational, non-profit, legal, and financial. In advising business owners, managers, and human resources directors, Ms. Brown's goal is to keep her clients out of litigation by promptly addressing concerns before they become legal actions filed in court by implementing strategies such as conducting internal audits of processes and procedures, strengthening policies, and conducting trainings for all employees. She also conducts investigations and responds to charges of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or improper payment of wages filed with government agencies. Ms. Brown has been recognized by "The Best Lawyers in America" in the area of employment law-management (2027); by "DBusiness Magazine" as a Top Lawyer in Metro Detroit in Labor & Employment Law (2023-2025); by "Crain's Detroit Business" among Notable Women in the Law (2021); by "Michigan Lawyers Weekly" as among the 25 attorneys on Michigan’s Go To Lawyers Power List (2024), as a Go-To Lawyer in Employment Law in (2021, 2024-2025), and among Notable Women in the Law (2021); and in Oakland County Executive's Elite 40 Under 40 Class of 2020. She was also named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers (2014-2023) and was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Oakland County Bar Association (2021). For many years, Ms. Brown was active in the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, where she served on the gender equality committee and the nominating committee, and served in other roles in the Women's Bar Association.
