Michael S. Melfi practices in the areas of intellectual property and business, focusing on financing and fundraising, intellectual property protection, technology licensing, tax planning, acquisitions and dispositions, and general corporate matters. Before joining his current firm, Mr. Melfi founded and served as chief operating officer and general counsel of a national multimedia company, pioneering various experiential and digital marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 clients. He is a member of the Small Business Association in Michigan and mentors entrepreneurs at 1871, the home of more than 400 early-stage digital start-ups based in Chicago. Mr. Melfi serves on the board of governors for the University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology's Alumni Society as well as the President's Advisory Council for the Community House in Birmingham, Michigan. He is the author of a series of four books: "The Simple Secrets of Social Media," "The Simple Secrets of Crowdfunding," "The Simple Secrets of Intellectual Property," and "The Simple Secrets of Entrepreneurship. He has published numerous articles in the "Huffington Post," "Crain's Detroit Business," and StartUpNation.com. Mr. Melfi hosts a weekly podcast "Be Investable" on the Michigan Business Network.
