Judge Christopher M. Trebilcock was appointed by Governor Gretchen E. Whitmer in 2025. Before his appointment, he was an equity member in the Detroit office of Clark Hill, PLC, where he practiced employment and labor law; election law; and administrative, municipal, and education litigation. Judge Trebilcock previously was an equity principal with Miller Canfield, PLC, and served as the deputy practice group leader for the Labor and Employment Practice Group. Before entering private practice in Detroit, he served as an attorney-advisor to an associate chief administrative law judge for the Department of Labor in Washington, DC. "Michigan Lawyer’s Weekly" named Judge Trebilcock as one of ten Go To Lawyers for Employment and Labor Law in 2024 and as a Leaders in the Law honoree in 2020. Chambers & Partners USA has ranked him as a leading labor and employment lawyer in Michigan since 2017. Judge Trebilcock has been recognized by "DBusiness," Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers of America for employment and labor law. He was previously named by Crain’s Business Detroit as a 40 Under 40 honoree in 2012. Judge Trebilcock is a current member of the Development of the Law Under the NLRA Committee of the American Bar Association and served as a contributing editor to BNA’s "The Developing Labor Law: The Board, the Courts, and the National Labor Relations Act." He has been a guest lecturer on election law at Wayne State University Law School. Judge Trebilcock is a past president of the Founders Junior Council of the Detroit Institute of Arts and previously served on the board of directors of the Oakland County Bar Association New Lawyers Committee, the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition, Michigan’s Children, Church of the Messiah Housing Corporation, and the Rotary Club of Detroit.
