Since 1983, Byron D. Cooper has been law library director and professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Prior to that, he received his master of science, juris doctor, and master of library science degrees from Indiana University and became the associate director of the Indiana University Law Library in 1978. Prof. Cooper has held offices in various library organizations, has served on state bar committees, and is currently the Michigan corresponding secretary for the Selden Society, a group devoted to the editing and publication of sources for the study of English legal history. He has published articles in law reviews and contributed to books on legal history, legal education, and legal bibliography. Prof. Cooper has taught courses in English legal history, property, and legal research, among others.
