Christopher W. Smith focuses his law practice on assisting older adults and individuals with special needs. He advises clients on a wide range of issues, including estate and long-term care planning, special needs planning, probate administration, Medicaid, Medicare, and related issues. Mr. Smith is the former chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Elder and Disability Rights Section and is on the board of directors for the Special Needs Alliance. He devotes considerable time to Michigan and U.S. legislative matters as a member of the attorney general’s Elder Abuse Task Force and as the public policy cochair for the Special Needs Alliance. Mr. Smith is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. During law school at Indiana University Bloomington, he served as managing editor of the "Indiana Law Journal." After law school, Mr. Smith served as an associate in the business litigation group of an Indianapolis law firm. He was named a Rising Star by Indiana Super Lawyers from 2009 to 2010 and by Michigan Super Lawyers from 2012 to 2017.
