Susan J. Butterwick

Practicing in the areas of mediation, program development, training, and teaching, Susan J. Butterwick has mediation experience in civil disputes and large multiparty disputes involving city and county governments and private agencies, as well as in family matters. She is approved as a mediator trainer by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office and trains attorneys for civil court mediation under MCR 2.411. Ms. Butterwick also provides mediation training in community, adult guardianship, parent-teen, school truancy, and child protection matters and leads training workshops in conflict resolution skills. She has served as directing attorney and program director for court-connected adult guardianship and child protection programs. Ms. Butterwick currently directs a school truancy mediation initiative in Wayne County for the Wayne Mediation Center, a child protection mediation program at the 3rd Circuit Court, and a pilot program for Western Wayne County Department of Human Services. A member of the ADR Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan, she is an adjunct professor for WSU's Master in Dispute Resolution Program through the Communications Department and an adjunct professor of law for the Wayne State University Law School.
