Cary S. McGehee

Royal Oak, Michigan


A founding partner of the firm, Cary S. McGehee has specialized in employment and civil rights litigation for over 20 years. She currently serves on the Employment Discrimination Committee of the Michigan Association for Justice, on the Equal Employment Opportunity Liaison Committee of the American Bar Association, on the advisory board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, and as chair of the board of directors of the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights. Ms. McGehee was one of the trial attorneys in "Neal v Michigan Department of Corrections," a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of over 500 female prisoners in Michigan who had been sexually assaulted by male prison guards. In relation to that effort, she was awarded Trial Lawyer of the Year honors by the Public Justice Foundation (2008), the Lawyers for the People Award by the National Lawyers Guild (2008), and the Wade Hampton McCree Jr. Award by the Federal Bar Association (2009). Ms. McGehee is an elected fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and she was elected to the Michigan State College of Law Board of Trustees in December 2013. A frequent lecturer at ICLE's labor and employment law institutes and deposition skills workshops, Ms. McGehee is listed in the current edition of "The Best Lawyers in America" and has been rated as one of the top employment lawyers in Michigan by Michigan Super Lawyers.
