Hon. Jeffrey R. Hughes serves as a judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan. A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, he practiced with the law firm of Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt, and Howlett, LLP for 20 years prior to his appointment to the bench in 2000. During that time, he specialized in bankruptcy law and litigation, with a particular emphasis on bankruptcy-related litigation and complex commercial litigation, and was recognized annually in "The Best Lawyers in America."
