Hon. Michael J. Theile

Hon. Michael J. Theile was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2005 to serve as a circuit judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit, assigned to the Family Court. He also serves as judge of a problem solving (specialty) court – Parents and Children Together, an intensive approach to noncustodial parental involvement, including the collection of child support and maintenance of parenting time. Judge Theile was briefly a trial court judge for the Department of Labor and Economic Growth's Board of Magistrates in 2005 and served as a special assistant attorney general from 1984 to 2005. He is a member of the Michigan Judges Association, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Association for Justice, and the Juvenile Justice Association of Michigan and a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. Judge Theile is a frequent speaker in the community and schools on all aspects of family court matters and a frequent conference presenter to judges, friend of the court staff, and community partners on the creation of specialty courts, their function, and efficient use
