Judge Thomas L. Solka is chief judge of the 25th Circuit Court, Marquette County, Michigan. He was elected to the Circuit Court in 1998 after practicing law for 25 years throughout northern Michigan and Wisconsin. A graduate of the University of Wyoming College of Law, Judge Solka served in the Bessemer office of Upper Peninsula Legal Services (now Northern Michigan Legal Services), a nonprofit service offering legal services to low income people of the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1976 he joined the Marquette County Prosecutor's office as an assistant prosecutor, then moved to private practice, and later became a staff trial attorney for Wausau Insurance. Judge Solka returned to private practice in 1990 until he was elected circuit judge in 1998. After six years in the family division of the 25th Circuit, Judge Solka is now serving in the civil/criminal division.
