Hon. Robert Holmes Bell is a district judge in the Western District of Michigan, where he has served since 1987. Before coming to the Federal District Court he was a State of Michigan district judge and circuit judge. He now sits by assignment in the 6th and 9th Circuit Courts of Appeal. Judge Bell has also taught evidence at Cooley Law School and served on the faculty of several Federal judicial workshops in areas relating to trial and disposition of contested criminal and civil cases. He has been awarded the Champion of Justice award by the State Bar of Michigan and, most recently, the Lifetime Achievement award by the Michigan Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
