Jeffery S. Dennis is director of the Federal Regulatory Affairs, Energy Supply, at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI). EEI is the association of U.S. shareholder-owned electric companies, a group that serves 95% of the ultimate customers in the shareholder-owned segment of the industry and represents approximately 70% of the U.S. electric power industry. Prior to his position at EEI, Mr. Dennis was an attorney-advisor and appellate attorney at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he advised the commissioners on electric regulatory legal matters and defended the commission on appeal before the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals. He has also been an attorney in private practice, representing electricity generators and large power users in federal and state regulatory proceedings. Mr. Dennis has published several articles on topics in electricity law and policy. He has a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he was elected to membership in the Order of the Coif.
