Log in to purchase or register

If you already have a user name and password because you are an ICLE Partner, have access to Michigan Law Online, or subscribe to an online ICLE book, we recommend you log in first. This will activate our system to give you any applicable discounts on products or services.

If you do not have an ICLE user name and password, use the search box conveniently located in the center bar on ICLE's homepage.

Searching from the homepage

  1. If you are an ICLE Partner, you could receive discounts for many of our products or seminars. Log in before purchasing a product to be sure you are receiving the lowest price available to you.
  2. Locate the Search Store and Seminars box near the center of the page.
  3. Type in the keyword or phrase into the Search Store and Seminars box.
  4. Click Go.
  5. View the search results.

Note to ICLE Partners and other online subscribers. Log into My ICLE to search Partnership, Michigan Law Online, and online book resources.

Searching from My ICLE

Logging in to My ICLE gives you access to all of the online subscriptions you own and discounts to products and services you don't. If you are an ICLE Partner or subscribe to other ICLE online services, it is best to log in before searching for a product to be sure you are getting the best possible price.

  1. Log in to My ICLE.
  2. Locate the Search Store and Seminars box near the center of the page.
  3. Type your keyword or phrase into the Search Store or Seminars box.
  4. Click Go. View the search results.

Browsing the store

You can browse any of our books, seminar materials, online books, or disk products for sale at any time from any place on our web site by hovering your cursor over the Store tab at the top of our web page.

To browse the store...

  1. If you are an ICLE Partner, you could receive discounts for many of our products or seminars. Log in before purchasing a product to be sure you are getting the lowest price available to you.
  2. Hover your cusor over the Store tab, then click Books, Seminar Materials, Partnership, Online Books, or Disk Products to view more information about these collections.
  3. Once you click on a collection, e.g., Books, you will be able to search and browse for products within the collection.

Browsing the seminars

You can browse our upcoming seminars and certificate programs at any time from any place on our web site by hovering your cursor over the Seminars tab at the top of our web page.

To browse upcoming seminars...

  1. If you are an ICLE Partner, you could receive discounts for many of our products or seminars. Log in before purchasing a product to be sure you are getting the lowest price available to you.
  2. Hover your cursor over the Seminar tab then click Current Seminars or Certificate Programs in the brown bar to view a list of our upcoming seminars.
  3. Once you click on a collection, e.g., Current Seminars, you will be able to search and browse for products within the collection.

Using the find function

Once you have located a document, you can find specific terms within the document using the Find in Page feature, available in Netscape and Internet Explorer.

This feature searches for words that appear on the page you are currently viewing. To find specific terms in the document you are currently viewing, pull down the Edit menu, click on Find (or use CTRL+F as a shortcut), and type in the word you are looking for.

Search Tips

Refine your search results by incorporating the following tips into your search string.

Phrases

When searching for a phrase, use double quotation marks: "purchase agreement". This will return all documents where purchase and agreement are adjacent.

and, or, and not

Use the Boolean operators and, or, and not to focus your search.

To find all documents containing both purchase and agreement, type

purchase and agreement

To find all documents containing either the word purchase or the word agreement, type

purchase or agreement

To find all documents containing the word purchase but not agreement, type

purchase not agreement

You can also combine Boolean operators in a single search. To find all pages containing both purchase and agreement, but not the word software type:

purchase and agreement not software

Capitalization

If you use all lowercase letters, you'll get all occurrences of your terms.

If you use mixed case or capital letters, you'll only get exact matches.

Search for worker's compensation - you get Worker's Compensation, worker's compensation, WORKER'S COMPENSATION and any other combination of lowercase and capital letters.

Search for Worker's Compensation - you get only the exact match. The results you get are only those in which the two words are capitalized.

Advanced Searching
ICLE’s advanced search pages always offers the ability to search by proximity or narrow your search to title. The My ICLE page also allows you to search by practice area or ICLE resource.

Searching by Proximity
Type your search word(s) into the keyword search box, then choose the proximity of the terms to each other.

Searching for keywords purchase agreement and choosing w/ 5 words, will give you all results where purchase occurs within 5 words of agreement.

Searching by Titles
You can search on only the titles of documents by choosing Titles Only from the dropdown box located in front of your search term.

Choosing Titles Only from the dropdown box and searching for keyword purchase agreement will return documents where purchase agreement appears in the title of the document.

Searching by contributor
You can search by contributor by selecting Contributors Only from the dropdown box located in front of your search term.

Choosing Contributors Only from the dropdown box and searching for keyword Sacks will return documents where the contributor name contains Sacks.

Refining by Practice Area or Resource
You can search for keywords within specific practice areas or resources, e.g, within the FormBank or Seminar Materials, by typing your search term into the keyword box, then selecting either practice areas or resources from the scroll boxes on the advanced search page.

Tips:

  • Select multiple practice areas or resources by holding down your Ctrl key while clicking on the practice areas.
  • To clear your selection, click on none in your practice area or resource scroll box.
  • To select all practice areas or resources, click select all in your practice area or resource box.

Note:
You cannot limit your search by both practice areas and resources at the same time. By default, you will search all of your subscription resources.

Adding the ICLE Store to your search
You can search for resources you do not currently subscribte to by selecting Include ICLE store and upcoming seminars at the bottom of your My ICLE advanced search page.
