Justice Janine P. Geske serves as a distinguished professor of law at Marquette University Law School and as the director of the law school's Restorative Justice Initiative. She previously served as a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 1993 to 1998 and as a Milwaukee County circuit court judge from 1981 to 1993. Justice Geske also served as a member of the faculty of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada, for over 10 years. She has received many honors and awards, including a Wisconsin State Bar Fellows Award; induction into the Wisconsin Academy of Science, Arts and Letters; and honorary doctor of law degrees. Justice Geske is a fellow of the American Law Institute, the American Bar Foundation, the Wisconsin Bar Foundation, the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, the Wisconsin Association of Mediators , and the Association for Confliction Resolution and a member of the alternative dispute resolution sections of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. A graduate of Marquette University Law School, she has been active in numerous civic and community activities. She frequently teaches at judicial, legal, and community conferences on mediation, restorative justice, sentencing, evidence, the courts, and spirituality and work. Justice Geske has been listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" annually since 2005 for her work in alternative dispute resolution.
