Gerald L. Aben serves as counsel to health systems, long-term care facilities, behavioral health providers, physician groups, and home health care providers. Mr. Aben focuses a significant part of his practice on facilitating acquisitions and mergers in the long-term care and senior living industry, and advises clients on various regulatory issues, with a special emphasis on Certificate of Need approval, facility licensure, and participation with Medicare, Medicaid, and other governmental health care programs. He regularly works with clients to develop proactive HIPAA compliance strategies, investigate and respond to breaches of protected health information, and navigate audits and investigations conducted by the Office of Civil Rights and other governmental agencies.
