Mercedes Varasteh Dordeski is assistant general counsel with BCBSM. She focuses in the areas of provider contracting and regulatory issues including, but not limited to, mental health parity. Prior to joining BCBSM in January of 2020, Ms. Dordeski served as corporate counsel for an NCQA-accredited managed behavioral health organization that managed care for more than 75,000 individuals with severe and persistent behavioral health conditions in Wayne County. Ms. Dordeski is a frequent speaker and author on health law issues, and has written more than two dozen articles, many of which have appeared in national publications. She is chair of the State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section and previously served as the vice chair of publications for the American Health Lawyers Association’s medical staff, credentialing, and peer review practice group. Ms. Dordeski received her BA from Western Michigan University and JD from Wayne State University Law School.
