Joseph G. Vernon focuses his practice on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. He has litigated disputes involving commercial transactions, business torts, intellectual property rights, noncompetition agreements, and automotive supply contracts in state and federal courts across the country. He is a skilled appellate lawyer who has briefed and argued before various courts of appeal. Mr. Vernon has also done comprehensive work in the sports and entertainment field, including representing and advising during contract negotiations, advising athletes and entertainers about their intellectual property rights, drafting and negotiating management, venue, licensing, and other industry-specific agreements, and litigating matters relating to the above. He is also licensed to practice in Ontario, Canada. He has served as cochairperson of the Ethics Committee of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan's transition team and cochairperson of the Federal Bar Association's Rule and Civil Practice Committee for the Eastern District of Michigan.
