Hope V. Shovein

Hope V. Shovein focuses her practice on the procurement and enforcement of trademark rights. Her work encompasses managing domestic and international trademark portfolios; trademark clearance searches and opinions; drafting and negotiating agreements; preparing and responding to cease and desist letters; and representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, as well as litigation. She handles complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and has successfully represented clients in arbitration proceedings under ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and other alternative dispute resolution policies. She has been listed as a Michigan Super Lawyer for intellectual property from 2013-2017 and was named a Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2011-2012. Michigan Lawyers Weekly named her as an "Up & Coming Lawyer" in 2010 and one of its "Women in the Law" in 2016. She is a past chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Young Lawyers and Intellectual Property Law Sections, and has served on the SBM Board of Commissioners. Ms. Shovein has also served on various committees within the International Trademark Association. She speaks and publishes regularly on IP-related topics.
