Dana M. Warnez is the 87th president of the State Bar of Michigan and its eighth woman to hold that office. She has been practicing law since 1996 with both her mother, Florence Schoenherr-Warnez, and older sister, past State Bar of Michigan President Kimberly M. Cahill (1960-2008), specializing in probate and estate planning, trust and estate administration, and real estate matters. Her service with the State Bar includes being a member of the 21st Century Task Force; chair of the Representative Assembly; member of Strategic Planning Committees, Awards Committee, and Online Legal Resource and Referral Committee; and chair of local District D Character and Fitness. She has been active with the Macomb County Bar Association and Foundation, serving as the president (2012-2013) of both the association and foundation. Ms. Warnez has chaired the foundation’s Scholarship Committee, which initiated a memorial scholarship and reading program in the memory of Kimberly M. Cahill. Ms. Warnez is a member of the Tri-County Panel of State of Michigan Attorney Discipline Board, a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, as well as a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Macomb County Bar Association, and American Bar Association. Ms. Warnez received her JD from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School and a BA from the University of Michigan in English.
