Kirk C. Waibel owns and operates the machinery and equipment valuation, consulting, and liquidation firm he founded in 2012. Mr. Waibel is a licensed attorney who has testified as an expert witness in Michigan and Illinois courts. His valuation experience includes both continued-use and liquidation analysis using market approach techniques as well as Excel-based machinery valuation models. Mr. Waibel is experienced in the area of mergers & acquisitions, financial reporting, litigation, and tax, enabling him to provide insight into complex accounting and financial issues that arise when performing machinery and equipment valuation work. Mr. Waibel previously practiced law in the area of civil litigation for five years. He then began working with an industrial auction and appraisal firm in early 1999. From 1999 through early 2007 the focus of his appraisal and liquidation work was in the area of asset-based lending. At the beginning of 2007 he began working in the economic and valuation services practice of a Big Four accounting firm, specializing in the valuation of machinery and equipment. While there he managed many large domestic and international valuation assignments for tax and financial reporting purposes including purchase price allocation, goodwill impairment, long-lived asset impairment, mergers, and fresh start accounting.
