Scott L. Teter

Scott L. Teter is the division chief of the Financial Crimes Division. The division also includes the Child Support Unit and the Elder Financial Crimes Unit. Mr. Teter helped start the Attorney General's Child Support Division in 2003. That division has now collected over $380 million in past-due child support for over 28,000 Michigan children. While serving as the elected prosecutor in Cass County, Michigan, he prosecuted over 250 cases of felony nonpayment of child support and collected over $1 million in four years, and he was selected as the Prosecutor of the Year in 1998 by the Michigan Family Support Council for exemplary service to the Michigan Child Support Program. As a prosecutor, Mr. Teter created the second elder abuse task force in Michigan. He is a member of the Elder Abuse Task Force formed by Attorney General Dana Nessel and the Michigan Supreme Court. Mr. Teter trains for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan on elder abuse and financial exploitation. He has also trained with the National College of District Attorneys, the American Prosecutors Research Institute, the National Advocacy Center, and the National Sheriffs' Association.
