Timothy A. Baughman, formerly chief of research, training, and appeals with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, now a special assistant prosecuting attorney with that office, has worked in the Prosecutor's Office since 1975. He has briefed and argued numerous cases in the Michigan Supreme Court as well as seven cases in the U.S. Supreme Court and has supervised petitions for certiorari, briefing, and oral argument of four cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. He has written articles on criminal law for the "Wayne Law Review," the "Detroit College of Law Review," and the "Michigan Bar Journal"; has authored three books, "Michigan Criminal Law and Procedure: Practice Deskbook," "Michigan Criminal Law and Procedure: Search and Seizure," and "Michigan Model Criminal Jury Instructions Annotated" (all published by West Publishing) and is a contributor and consultant for volumes of "Gillespie, Michigan Criminal Law and Procedure" (West Publishing). He has lectured for a number of organizations, including the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (Inaugural Distinguished Faculty Award, 1990) and the National College of District Attorneys (Lecturer of Merit Award, 1992). He has also been an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and Wayne State University Law School. Mr. Baughman is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), the Eastern District of Michigan Bar, the Sixth Circuit Bar, and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2015, he received the SBM's Frank J. Kelley Distinguished Public Service Award.
