John F. Schaefer practices in the area of domestic law, specializing in non-routine matrimonial matters, and has appeared in 24 of the 57 Michigan Circuits. He is an adjunct professor at the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University, where he has taught Domestic Relations for 28 years. Mr. Schaefer has instructed hundreds of Michigan Circuit Court Judges through the Michigan Judicial Institute and has taught frequently at ICLE seminars. He has also made several television and radio appearances relative to legal matters and is listed in all editions of "The Best Lawyers in America" and "Who's Who in America." Mr. Schaefer has been associated with numerous organizations; he is past president of the Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a trustee of the Detroit College of Law, a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, a member and past chairperson of the State Bar's Family Law Section, an arbitrator with the Attorney Grievance Commission, and a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness.
