Hon. Jacob James Cunningham began his service as a judge in the family division in January 2019. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Irish and Armenian Bar Associations, International Association of LGBTQ+ Judges, Michigan Judges Association, Eastern District of Michigan Federal Bar Association, and Michigan Inter-Professional Association. Judge Cunningham is active with the Oakland County Bar Association and has served on various committees, including professional development. Prior to becoming a judge, he was the judicial staff attorney to the Hon. Mary Ellen Brennan and clerked for the Hon. Wendy Potts on both her general civil docket and business court docket. During college and law school, Judge Cunningham clerked at the Birmingham law firm of Williams, Williams, Rattner, and Plunkett PC.
