Hon. Gregory C. Pittman

Hon. Gregory C. Pittman was appointed to the bench on January 6, 1998. His appointment also filled the final slot in the 14th Circuit Court Family Division. In 2005 Judge Pittman was appointed to serve on the Governor’s Task Force for Children’s Justice through 2011. In 2013 he was appointed to lead the effort to create and operate the Muskegon County STAY Project, which serves to stem the “School to Prison” pipeline that hinders the future of youth in our communities. His past work experience includes two years with the Michigan Department of Commerce, staff lawyer with the Kent County Public Defender’s Office, and private practice with the Muskegon law firm of Williams, Hughes, Corwin and Sinninger. Judge Pittman also served as Magistrate of the 60th District Court and is an adjunct faculty member at Muskegon Community College, Baker College, and the Michigan Judicial Institute. Judge Pittman is the 2001 recipient of the Michigan Family Forum’s prestigious “Champion of the Family” award. He was also honored as the 2014 "Living Legend" award winner at the 103.7 FM BEAT Awards. In 2018 Judge Pittman was selected as “Jurist of the Year” by the Michigan CASA Association.
