Kaitlin A. Brown

Kaitlin A. Brown is a shareholder in her firm's corporate and employment practice group. Specializing in employment law, she works with employers to prevent and respond to employees' claims involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and improper payment of wages. As part of that process, Ms. Brown helps business owners, managers, and human resources directors prepare onboarding documents and handbooks, provide on-site training for employees and managers, respond to employee concerns, conduct investigations, manage employee performance, prepare and negotiate severance agreements, respond to agency charges, manage audits, and attend hearings related to claims for unemployment insurance benefits. She has worked with clients in myriad industries, including the automotive, medical, educational, and financial fields. Ms. Brown's experience ranges from administrative agencies to large firm litigation. She has litigated complex insurance, contract, and constitutional cases. At the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, Ms. Brown worked in the Reconsideration Unit, evaluating and deciding appeals of administrative decisions. She was named the 2018 Regeana Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyer by the State Bar of Michigan's Young Lawyers Section, while also being recognized as an Up and Coming Lawyer ("Michigan Lawyers Weekly"), being selected to the Rising Stars list from 2014 through 2019 (Super Lawyers), receiving the Member of the Year Award (Women’s Bar Association), and receiving the Pro Bono Recognition Award (U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan). Ms. Brown serves as the current chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and past chair of the Employment Law Committee for the Oakland County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice law in the states of Michigan and Indiana and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Brown worked in New York City making documentaries for networks such as National Geographic International, the History Channel, and Discovery Health.
