Geoffrey R. Vernon practiced in the areas of tax, business, and estate planning; estate and trust administration; estate and trust litigation; and tax compliance and return preparation for individuals, estates, trusts, business entities, and charitable foundations. Mr. Vernon was a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a council member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, serving as chair of the council's Committee on Special Projects and Insurance Ad Hoc Committee and as a member (and former chair) of the Legislation Development and Drafting Committee. He was a frequent ICLE presenter on topics related to planning for digital assets; probate and estate planning; the administration of trusts and estates; and income, estate, and gift tax planning. Mr. Vernon also authored several articles published in the "Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal." He was listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" for trusts and estates and was recognized as a Detroit "Top Lawyer" for trusts and estates by "dBusiness" magazine. Mr. Vernon died April 3, 2018.
