Kimberly Ross Clayson is a bankruptcy and business law attorney and has been in practice since admission to the Michigan bar in 2006. In June 2020, she joined her current firm's leadership team after leading her own firm since 2017. Ms. Clayson works with businesses, entrepreneurs, and consumers to handle legal issues connected to her clients' financial health and wellbeing. Her client services range from creditor negotiations and debtor-related bankruptcy representation to transactional services, including commercial real estate lease drafting and negotiations. In 2020, Ms. Clayson was appointed by the Department of Justice U.S. Trustee Program as one of five inaugural Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees in the Eastern District of Michigan under the Small Business Reorganization Act, which became law in February 2020. She serves as the finance director for the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) - Wayne Region and on the WLAM's candidate endorsement committee, is a board member for the Detroit Economic Development Corporation, and serves on the advisory board for the American Bankruptcy Institute's annual Hon. Steven W. Rhodes Detroit Consumer Bankruptcy Conference. Ms. Clayson has served as a writer and speaker on bankruptcy and business related topics at various events in Detroit's legal and business communities. She has previously taught secured transactions as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
