Karen McDonald Henning is associate dean of Academic Affairs and an associate professor of law at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Ms. Henning teaches in the areas of criminal procedure, civil procedure, federal jurisdiction, and legal writing. Her scholarship focuses on constitutional remedies, criminal procedure, and teaching pedagogy. After graduating from law school, Ms. Henning clerked for the Hon. Collins J. Seitz of the U.S. Court of Appeals. She then worked for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom and worked on a variety of matters before federal appellate and trial courts as well as district federal administrative agencies. Ms. Henning served as an appellate attorney in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia and represented the District of Columbia in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. She joined University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2008 and has won multiple teaching and service awards.
