Steven M. Gursten practices in the areas of auto negligence and no-fault insurance benefits. He specializes in handling serious car accidents, truck accidents, and no-fault attendant care cases throughout Michigan. Having received the largest reported jury verdicts for automobile accident cases in three of the past six years, as well as the largest settlement reported for pain and suffering in Michigan in over the past 10 years, Mr. Gursten was voted "Lawyer of the Year" for 2005 by "Michigan Lawyers Weekly." For 2008-2009, he is also listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" and "Michigan Super Lawyers" and ranked in the top 100 trial lawyers by the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Mr. Gursten has served for over 10 years on the executive board of the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ; formerly the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association), where he is cochairperson of the Auto No-Fault Committee. A member of the AAJ, he is president of its Interstate Trucking Litigation Group and a member of the Traumatic Brain Injuries Litigation Group. Mr. Gursten represents the state of Michigan on the board of governors of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. He frequently lectures at legal seminars on topics such as trial advocacy, Michigan no-fault law, traumatic brain injury cases, and maximizing settlements for those injured in serious auto accidents. A graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Mr. Gursten is a contributor to various legal periodicals and textbooks, including the State Bar of Michigan's "Negligence Law Section Quarterly."
