Robert A. Hendricks, cochair of the firm’s Cannabis Industry Group, is a commercial lawyer with 38 years of legal experience working with businesses on entity formation, real estate, tax planning, commercial contracting, and other areas. Since 2013, Mr. Hendricks has developed a cannabis practice based on Michigan’s medical and recreational cannabis laws. He has a state-level leadership role where he has participated in the development of marijuana laws and regulations. He represents growers, retailers, processors, labs, and secure transporters who directly participate in state legal marijuana businesses, as well as businesses that provide ancillary goods and services to the industry. Mr. Hendricks regularly advises clients about the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act, the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, and hemp and the 2018 Farm Bill. He is a founding member and past chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Cannabis Law Section and a member of the National Cannabis Bar Association and NORML.
