Hon. Marci B. McIvor was appointed as a U.S. bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2003. She was in private practice until 1986, when she joined the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Michigan. Judge McIvor served as an assistant attorney general until her appointment. At the attorney general's office, her work consisted primarily of representing the Michigan Department of Treasury and other state agencies in bankruptcy matters. Since her appointment, she has frequently spoken on consumer bankruptcy issues at conferences sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute, ICLE, and the Consumer Bankruptcy Association.
