Peter Cunningham was selected as the sixth executive director of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) and began his appointment on March 1, 2022. Before this appointment, Mr. Cunningham first served as director of governmental relations from 2012 to 2015 and then as assistant executive director from 2015 to 2022. Before his work with the SBM, he served as the executive director of the Michigan Campaign for Justice, a nonprofit created to promote improvement in Michigan's public defense system. Mr. Cunningham has served on the SBM's executive leadership team for seven years.
