George B. Davis is a partner at his firm in Grand Rapids. He has more than 40 years of experience in municipal and environmental law, exclusively representing public clients. Mr. Davis's statewide-recognized expertise includes the review and drafting of local regulatory ordinances and assisting local units of government throughout the state with the administration and enforcement of those ordinances as special legal counsel. His current practice places particular emphasis on wastewater matters and industrial pretreatment programs, and he regularly drafts and negotiates interjurisdictional agreements, including wastewater treatment service agreements. Mr. Davis is a regular speaker and frequent author in his areas of practice. Before forming his firm in 1998, he was a partner at Varnum, LLP, for 12 years. Mr. Davis received his JD from the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific; his LLM in land use and environmental law, summa cum laude, from George Washington University; and a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan, where he graduated first in his class and studied in the PhD program in Urban, Technological, and Environmental Planning. He has chaired the Zoning and Land Use and Publications Committees of the State Bar of Michigan's Public Corporation Law Section (now the Government Law Section). Mr. Robinson also served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Water Environment Association from 2014 to 2020 and received the association's highest honor, the Dan Wolz Clean Water Award for Environmental Excellence, in 2024. He currently serves on the East Grand Rapids Zoning Board of Appeals, which he chaired from 2022 to 2025.
