Eric D. Williams

Big Rapids, Michigan


In addition to his private law practice, Eric D. Williams is the city attorney for Big Rapids, Michigan, and general counsel for Morton Township and the villages of Marion, Luther, Leroy, Tustin, and Morley. He has prosecuted municipal cases involving misdemeanors and civil infractions for over 29 years, with 4 years as the assistant prosecutor of Mecosta County and over 25 years as the Big Rapids city attorney. Mr. Williams also handles ordinance prosecutions for villages and townships in Mecosta and Osceola Counties. He is a past president and current board member of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, as well as a council member of the Government Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Mr. Williams is a frequent presenter at seminars, workshops, and training sessions on ordinance prosecution, municipal boundary changes, municipal regulation of sexually oriented businesses, expenditures by municipalities, and other municipal law topics. He has written several amicus curiae briefs filed with the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court on legal issues involving municipalities.
