M. Jean Ligon

Since 1991, M. Jean Ligon has represented clients in a broad array of legal matters, though she currently practices primarily in the areas of probate and estate planning, family law, equine law, and real estate, zoning, and land use. In 2006, she completed the Probate and Estate Planning Certificate Program developed by ICLE in cooperation with the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, Ms. Ligon is a past member of its Communications Committee and a current member of the Real Property Law, Probate and Estate Planning, and Animal Law (past chairperson) Sections. She also serves as vice president of the Michigan Horse Council (MHC), where she has been the chairperson of its Environmental, Land Use, and Zoning Committee for many years. Ms. Ligon is MHC's representative to the American Horse Council. A published author and frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics, she has also served for a number of years on the Putnam Township Planning Commission.
